3rd Gen The Best RSE team?
I recently saw an old video about the best RSE team, This included Swampert, Crobat, Hariyama, Manectric and Absol. Now my initial thought here was "Why the hell do you only have 5 pokemon?" To make the best team, it makes more sense to fill all 6 spots of the team that way you can soak out damage and roles, then I looked at the team he considered the best after researching the most important trainers and battles in all three games to make this.. I decided to pick this apart a little bit.
Swampert is by far the best of the three hoenn starters in terms of its usefulness, It completely walls 3 Gym leaders and is useful against 5 of them, as well as being insanely useful against 1 Elite Four and walling 2 of them. These being: Roxanne, Wattson, Flannery, Winona, Tate and Liza, Sidney, Glacia and Drake. Swampert also puts in a really good swift against most of Steven's team and is capable of fending off a lot of Wallace's team.
the next on this list is Crobat, Crobat is by far the superior Flying type in gen 3 as it boasts two physical types which work with Crobat's attack stats, it gets an extremely powerful poison move aswell as a host of flying moves, anything it can't hit hard it can whittle down with toxic and you could go full annoyance with confuse ray. so no complaints there.
Now here's where I start seeing problems, Hariyama is a pretty good attacking pokemon, it can hit hard and has a great niche use, however in gen 3 that niche is best served by other pokemon... Hariyama is only useful against 1 gym leader and 2 elite four members. Those being Norman, Sidney and Glacia. Let's first take Norman, in R/S Norman's team is pretty lack luster with him using 2 Slakings and a Vigoroth, Vigoroth poses no real threat and is easily dispatched by a Swampert or Crobat, His slaking's given they have Truant, are easily countered by any single pokemon which can use Protect or Detect, as well as being hindered slightly by Crobat's Confuse ray... Hariyama will do the job of taking down the Slakings but if it takes any hit it's going to end up pretty low, which leads me to my next assessment that Hariyama is just too fragile to make it useful, while it has a good attack stat, it's defensive capability is lackluster, meaning that even if you run Thick fat as an ability, You're going to take a ton of damage, Glacia will most likely take out Hariyama with Surf/Ice beam combo and Sidney isn't too much of a threat but his Absol will most likely destroy Hariyama.
The forth entry on this team was Manectric and while I get that for Wallace Manectric is a good pokemon, Electric types in Gen 3 suffer massively from bad movesets, most of which only get 2-3 types of moves (Electric, Steel and Normal).. However Manectric gets bite, useful against Pheobe but not really powerful.. Thunderbolt/Thunder do make good of taking down all but 1 of Wallace's team but I don't think an Electric type is at all necessary, there are other non electric types that can learn thunderbolt and enough grass types to clear this out and provide themselves more useful.
Finally we have Absol, we all know Absol's biggest weakness in gen 3 is its typing, the list I saw had absol use Bite with Calm Mind to try and help with this but to me that feels like a waste... Absol already has a massive attack stat and while it cannot make good on stab, it can still learn a decent set of moves to deal a lot of damage, couple that in with Swords Dance, you can happily sweep most non resisting trainers with it.
My question to you guys is, What do you think is the best RSE team? Remember this has to take into account the champion differences and all important trainer battles..
Mine would be:
Swampert @ Soft Sand/Mystic Warer/NeverMeltIce
Quiet or Brave Nature
- Earthquake
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Return
Crobat @ Sharp Beak or Poison Barb
Adamant Nature
- Fly
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic
- Aerial Ace
Slaking @ Silk Scarf
Brave Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Hyper Beam
- Flamethrower/Facade
Heracross @ King's Rock
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Megahorn
- Bulk up
- Brick Break
Cacturne @ Miracle Seed
Quiet Nature
- Giga Drain/SolarBeam/Needle Arm
- Faint Attack
- Growth

Stop Starter from being deposited/removed?
I'm sure I'm missing something, but I've been looking all over for possible readymade scripts, I'm using Pokemon Essentials GS(v1.1).
The starter Pokemon (Rotom and any formes) has to be in the party at all times for lots of the events I have made up to make sense.
Are there any scripts that forbade certain pokemon(Namely just the one and it's formes) from being taken out of the party?
Also, if anybody has experience with doing this, is this something that will cause issues for anything down the path for any reason?
Thanks!

Question: SHSkavhaug?
so there was this shiny hunting youtuber named SHSkavhaug, but whenever i try to search his name nothing comes up, at all.
i’ve tried clicking on links on videos he was mentioned in, but it just led me to a deleted video.
i even tried searching his youtube URL on the wayback machine.
does anyone have any insight on where he went? i used to watch his videos a lot and i at least want to know where and why he doesn’t show up anymore. it’s almost as if he just disappeared from the internet entirely

Pokemon Based on Spooky Lore [Part 2]

ABSOL
According to Chinese legend, the Yellow Emperor Huang Di was on patrol near the East Sea when he encountered Bai Ze, a magnificent beast with a flowing white mane, large horns, and several eyes. The monster taught the Emperor about the secrets of the supernatural world and how to defeat thousands of types of supernatural beings. The myth of this mysterious white creature spread to Japan as well in the form of the kutabe, which appeared before a village to successfully warn them of a coming plague.
SABLEYE
One of the most bizarre supernatural encounters ever reported was 1955's "Hopkinsville Goblin case" in which a rural farmhouse was supposedly invaded by a pack of 3-foot-tall aliens. Naturally, since the alleged monsters chose to appear in Kentucky, they were PROMPTLY and REPEATEDLY shot on sight. According to "eyewitness" accounts, the playful yet menacing creatures had small atrophied legs and bright glowing eyes, bullets seemed to bounce off their bodies, and they moved with an erratic swaying motion
GOLURK
During the 16th century, the Jewish population of Prague was terrorized by anti-Semitic attacks and government sanctioned pogroms. Harnessing forgotten sacred techniques, a Rabbi invoked the name of God to imbue life into a clay figure, who would defend the people and serve the community. While the franchise has previously featured golem-like creatures like the Regi trio, Golurk's distinctive band across the chest is a visual trademark of representations of the Golem of Prague, who can be found in souvenirs and monuments throughout the city.

JYNX
In Japan, Jynx is understood to be a cheap shot at ganguro, a fashion trend that involves gaudy clothes, unusual amounts of makeup, and bleach blond hair. The most extreme practitioners of the look were labeled yamanba, a reference to the legend of Yama-uba. According to the stories, Yama-uba lives alone in the icy mountains and lures wayward travelers into her cabin to devour them.
BANETTE
Banette, being loosely based on a marionette, is a tsukumogami. Tsukumogami account for some of the odder examples in the already very odd world of Japanese monsters. Put simply, tsukumogami are inanimate objects that have come to life. Usually, this is because the object is one hundred years old: upon reaching this age, an object is able to become a tsukumogami. However, objects may also take on a life of their own as a result of being thrown away. The idea that inanimate objects can have souls is called animism, and it is one of the central beliefs of Shintoism.
SNEASEL
Sneasel is loosely based on Kamaitachi because Kamaitachi are Weasels who are as fast as the wind and work in 3's usually (Though Sneasel seems more like a lone wolf) . One will knock a person down, another will cut them and then the third will heal the wounds made by his brothers leaving the person confused as to what just happened. This relates to Sneasel in a few ways, the name (Weasel, Sneasel), the hands (they Kamaitachi used Sickles) and the speed.
BRONZONG
Bronzor and Bronzong are based on an old story when a Temple was making a Bell in a time when mirrors were made of metal, so they asked women to donate their mirrors. Mirrors were thought to be the souls of women however, and so when one woman donated her mirror she donated knowing it wouldn't melt because it was her grandmother's mirror. Why this made it so it wouldn't melt, i don't know... But she sent it and then felt guilty. So she killed herself and the mirror was melted and the bell was made.view part 1 here

Hi, I'm New
Hello everyone, my name is Zero and I decided to join these forums because I wanted to join a good Pokemon roleplay. I've been playing since Yellow (foolishly skipped gen 2 and 5, but I'm planning to go back and play them eventually). I'm an entomologist in real life so I absolutely love bug Pokemon, I usually play through the games with a full bug team. Anyway, it's nice to meet you, and I look forward to participating in discussions and roleplays!

[Essentials Script] Elite Battle System - Change Battle Background for Terrain Effects
After hours of toiling away, tinkering with EBS, I finally found asked for help with a solution for changing the battle background when a terrain effect becomes active, using the Elite Battle System by Luka SJ.[/URL]
Now, I'm going to share it, to help everyone else, so nobody else has to bother the poor man about this ever again.
1. The first step is to, obviously, install Elite Battle System. If you haven't... go and do that.
2. Navigate to the EliteBattle_1 script section. In the class PokeBattle_Scene, copy and paste the following around line 135:
This method is designed to be infinitely expandable so that you can add as many terrain effects as you want. Remember that when doing so, you'll need to add to this piece of code, otherwise nothing will happen.
$globalBackdrop is the backdrop that the method will reset to once the terrain effect ends. In order to get this variable, paste the following above "# Choose bases" in PBBackdrop. (I recommend line 89 for this, that's where I put it
The "zElectricTerrain" of this line is the name of battle back that you will be changing to once the respective terrain effect comes into play. For reference, these need to be kept within Graphics/Battlebacks/battlebg within your Pokemon Essentials folder, along with all the other battle backgrounds from EBS.
3. The next step is making it activate when the moves are used. In PokeBattle_MoveEffects, find the code for the move Electric Terrain. Then, paste the following above "An electric current runs across the battlefield!"
This tells the method what terrain effect to use, then calls it. Remember that for every other terrain effect you add to this method, the "$terrainEffectsBG=" will need to be a different number.
This will make it so that the battle background changes whenever electric terrain is activated via the move.
4. Now, we need to make it apply to more than just moves. Most notably, the Electric Surge ability, if you have that installed (If not, skip this step)
This is the part where it could get tricky depending on how different people have integrated Electric Surge. Regardless, navigate to where you have it installed and, once again, paste the following above whatever message plays when the ability is activated.
This will call the method and tell it to use Electric Terrain's graphic, just like the move.
5. The final step is ensuring that it returns to normal at the correct time.
In PokeBattle_Battle, find the code that ends Electric Terrain. It should be under the effects for Water Sport and Mud Sport.
Then paste the following above "The electric current disappeared from the battlefield."
We don't need the full "@battle.scene.pbChangeBGSprite" here because we're already in the section of the script that handles the battle. I think that's why idk don't ask me but it breaks otherwise.
That should now be everything. Huzzah.
Using this same method it could easily be expanded to include the battle bases as well, but, at least it works.
Code:
#Change battle background
def pbChangeBGSprite
case $terrainEffectsBG
when 0 # Normal
@sprites["battlebg"].setBitmap($globalBackdrop,self)
when 1 #Electric Terrain
@sprites["battlebg"].setBitmap("zElectricTerrain",self)
end
end
Code:
when 0 # Normal
@sprites["battlebg"].setBitmap($globalBackdrop,self)
Code:
$globalBackdrop = backdrop
Code:
when 1 #Electric Terrain
@sprites["battlebg"].setBitmap("zElectricTerrain",self)
3. The next step is making it activate when the moves are used. In PokeBattle_MoveEffects, find the code for the move Electric Terrain. Then, paste the following above "An electric current runs across the battlefield!"
Code:
$terrainEffectsBG=1
@battle.scene.pbChangeBGSprite
This will make it so that the battle background changes whenever electric terrain is activated via the move.
4. Now, we need to make it apply to more than just moves. Most notably, the Electric Surge ability, if you have that installed (If not, skip this step)

Hatching Eggs
Since generation ii, Pokemon has given us the mechanic of being able to breed two Pokemon to give them an offspring or egg. How often do you hatch eggs in the Pokemon games? Do you care if the Pokemon has perfect IVs upon hatching? What do you hatch eggs for in your Pokemon games?
I hatch eggs ever so often for my egg runs when I restart the gen IV or V Pokemon games. But, I don't care about IVs or Natures. I just hatch eggs for my own team, and not any other reason.

Sarah Saved the Game!
How often do you try to save your games in Pokemon? Do you often save multiple times in one minute? Have you ever had a save file corrupted or lost?
I save my game usually once after every major thing I did in the game. But, if not, I save every time I'm ready to close my system, but I usually save five times per session. And...yes I'm victim of "did I save the game? *saves again* mentality. Sometimes I'm scared I forgot to save, because there are times I do when my DS is about to die. I also tend to save more often when my DS is in the red. (My 3DS battery is broken, so I don't rly play Pokemon games on there anymore). I've had a save file lost on me before, but never a main series Pokemon game, only a Mystery Dungeon game. But I never deleted it, so maybe it glitched itself into deletion. More on that, btw, one time, a Mystery Dungeon game FAILED to save and froze on me upon the save failing, this was Blue Rescue Team, iirc. @_@ I've had save files corrupted, too, because when I was a kid, I thought it was totally okay to shut the power off while saving, but there were times my system died while a save was occurring, so. ;; Aha.
